4 Family Vacations (& THE Walt Disney!)

I know I’ve mentioned before that summertime is my favorite season –it still is! Road trips, picnics, lazy days at the beach or pool, swimming, fishing, kayaking, and warm sunshine… love it all!  #1 in my book though are family vacations. Growing up, my family always drove to our destination. Before getting our large station wagon, we fit 8 people (2 parents, 5 kids & 1 grandma) in a small 6 person car – 3 in front, 3 in back, and 2 of us (yes, I was one of the lucky ones) on the floor of the back seat. Funny thing is, I kind of liked it. It was an adventure! I still love road trips, with a little more comfort now – at least a seat of my own. :)  I feel so grateful for the wonderful trips we had growing up….

Disneyland in the early 1960’s, & YES - that's really Walt Disney!
We actually got a picture with Walt Disney!  How awesome is that?!!  He was walking around the park, so my mom asked him if he would take a picture with us, (dad didn’t want her to bother him) :) luckily she did and Walt agreed.  We don’t know the boy he’s holding – perhaps his grandson. (Looks like the boy’s interested in me though – haha!)  I just love how dressed up we are too!

Grand Canyon

Grand Tetons & Jenny Lake …  and again years later

Times certainly have changed! Everyone’s lives are so busy, but we continue to plan vacations and family reunions.  We live in different cities, but it’s nice that we are all connected through our electronic devices, (Email, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram). We still try to connect in person each year too.  This year’s family reunion was held at Zion National Park in Utah. What an amazing, gorgeous place to visit.

44 out of 66 of us were able to make it this year.  We enjoyed our time together… playing games, hiking, cooking, and just being together.  Memories made (even an engagement - Congrats Nicole & Caleb!).  Summer has begun to wind down, vacations are ending and schools have started back up. As we get back into our routines, I hope you are able to appreciate and enjoy each and every day!

Until next year …

All our (Family) Love,
Donna (& Diana)
