4 Decorating Style

How would you describe your decorating style?  Contemporary?  Modern?  English Country?  French?  Shabby Chic?  Art Deco? Traditional? Western? Mediterranean?  Rustic?  So many options!
My Style
It’s always been difficult for me to pinpoint one decorating style.  When someone asks, I usually list a couple of styles.  While reading “the inspired room” blog recently, I came across what fits (almost) perfectly!  I absolutely love this statement… "I like to describe how I decorate as an eclectic decorating style (the long version would be eclectic, old world, northwest, coastal, farmhouse, cottage style because I am kind of indecisive and like to have options in decorating. Don’t judge). I find it hard to narrow down my choices!"

Wondering if perhaps I should try to narrow down my style options, I decided to take a “Decorating Personality” quiz to see if I could get some solid results.  As per my “I like several styles” style, my answers determined I fell into 2 categories! :) Cozy Casual and Vintage Eclectic … how perfect! Try the quiz and see if it fits your style, or gives you a style definition you can embrace.

No matter what your style, it’s always nice when you see something you like and immediately know it will blend in with your décor and fit a particular space.  This painting was one of those items for me and is one of my favorites.  Don’t second-guess yourself - just go for it.
Love my bench!  (Banquette as it can be called)

My style has certainly changed over time, but I’ve always been drawn to specific items.  I have a love for chickens/roosters, pitchers and bowls.  (My husband told me recently that we don’t need any more bowls.  Really?  Is that even possible?  Haha… I just love them!)  Fill your desire - just don't over-do it!  Oh, and in recent years, a touch of animal print here and there is lovely as well.

As I’ve changed some of my décor the past couple of years, I’ve discovered a real love of mixing old with new. That’s the eclectic part of decorating for sure.  We all want to feel good about our home, so be bold and go with the style (or several) you’re drawn to.  Ask a decorator for help if you need it, but feel free to mix-it up.  Enjoy decorating (and re-decorating!) your home and creating the space you’ll love to live in.

Oh, and we love helping people with décor, so don’t hesitate to ask!

With Love & Style, Donna (& Diana)
